What is the Education Foundation?

The Beaver Area School District Education Foundation is a non-profit, tax exempt organization established by the School Board to receive, administer, and oversee disbursement of funds derived from memorials and other special contributions for the general maintenance and enhancement of quality education within the District, and to recommend and implement various activities and programs from time to time for the same purpose. The Foundation was established to fulfill a need for a broad-based source of input and direction for maximizing the utilization of the abundant human and financial resources available within the District.

The concept of foundations is being used successfully throughout the nation as a means of supplementing the normal tax-supported school system operations. By providing a means for focusing these external resources, the Foundation helps promote the objectives of quality education in the Beaver Area School District. The direct beneficiaries of the Foundation’s efforts are, of course, the students within the Beaver Area School District, who enjoy special opportunities for academic and cultural enrichment that would not otherwise be possible. By enhancing the already good standing and reputation for quality education in our school system, all area citizens benefit from the effects of the community’s desirability as a place to live. Finally, the broader realm of society is stronger because of the quality of individuals who are products of the system.

The Foundation presently manages 40+ endowed funds, each of which is established to serve a specific purpose. While the funds are invested in a general fund that is conservatively managed to produce both income and growth, each fund is separately accounted and directed for its specific purpose.

The Foundation is certified as a non-profit 501(c)(3) charitable organization.
